"A squad of soldiers are sent to exterminate a horde of nightmarish creatures in a cavern deep below the Earth."
"The Mission" is a story I first began as a webcomic on Webtoon in 2021. Since then it has been heavily re-worked and re-written, and is now serving as the basis for my VFX Senior Thesis Project for my final year at SCAD! It will be a fully CG, animated short with an emphasis on action, horror and pacing.

I first developed the thumbnails in my 11"x14" sketchbook. Just quick sketches to get out compositional ideas. You can see that most of the drawings ended up being the shots I used in the final. I also added small notes for camera movements, sounds and other transitional elements I wanted to remember for when I began editing.
After sketching I put these pictures into Sketchbook Pro for my digital rendering. Frames marked with an x (in the carousel) contained multiple frames in hidden layers, that were used to create the more animated effect in the final.
This set of boards showcases a re-imagined version of the "Chest-Burster" scene from Ridley Scott's 1979 film, "ALIEN".
This was my first official storyboarding project for my FOUN-250 storyboarding course at SCAD. "ALIEN" is one of my favorite films, so I naturally chose it to be the subject of my project, and wanted to push an emphasis on characters, lighting and atmosphere.
